Artist Statement

Dorianne is a graphic designer and provocative artist that challenges societal norms through her works. Making use of different mediums, she excels in creating simple yet impactful designs, be it traditionally or digitally.

Her dissertation project “Playthings” blurs the lines between play and BDSM, fearlessly going against the society’s stereotypical view on these contrasting topics. She implements unconventional materials such as felt, PVC, balloons and yarn to recreate nostalgic childhood paraphernalia. By binding together the whimsical approach of play with the intensity of BDSM, Dorianne’s project sparks insightful conversations about consent, control, and human experiences.
